Have you ever wanted to be a poet?
One of the benefits of being a StoryMaker with PaperPie is building relationships with some of our favorite authors. Eric Ode is definitely a popular author in our house! Here are just a few of his titles:
- “Busy Trucks on the Go”
- “Hooray, It’s Garbage Day!”
- “Otters, Snails, Tadpole Tails”
- “Stop That Poem”
- “Dan the Taxi Man”
Eric has such a way with words and his stories flow so effortlessly. They really are a hoot to read!
Eric happens to have a YouTube channel that he calls, “The Poetry Workshop.” He walks you through an idea and takes it all the way to writing a poem. For example, in the first video, he had recorded some chickadees in his backyard entering and leaving a birdhouse. With the help of some friends, he brainstormed lots of ideas about the words that come to mind when studying these birds. By the end, he helps put it all together into a beautiful poem.
This would be a wonderful lesson for a homeschool environment, for your children who have expressed an interest in poetry or even for yourself!
